This year, husband and wife Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra were chosen to announce the Oscar nominations on the morning of Monday, March 15. And while reading a bunch of names off of a list isn't something that takes particularly special qualifications, someone on Twitter had a bone to pick about the Academy's choice of announcers. And in response, Chopra defended herself—and her acting chops—perfectly.

An entertainment reporter questioned Chopra and Jonas' "contribution to the movies" on Twitter.
For the past few years, the Oscar nominations have been announced by pairs of actors. Issa Rae and John Cho announced the nominations last year, Kumail Nanjiana and Tracee Ellis Ross the year before, and Tiffany Haddish and Andy Serkis in 2018.
But this year, an entertainment reporter working in Australia and New Zealand tweeted that Jonas and Chopra haven't made a big enough contribution to film to announce the Oscar nominees. "No disrespect to these two but I'm not sure their contribution to the movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees," the journalist tweeted, according to BuzzFeed (as the reporter has since protected his tweets).

In response, Chopra shared all of her acting credits on Twitter.
Responding to the original tweet, Chopra wrote, "Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone. Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration." Along with that message, she shared a video of her screen scrolling through her IMDb page that shows her many credits ranging from 2001 to the present.
In the U.S., Chopra is perhaps best known for her roles in the movies Baywatch, Isn't It Romantic, and The White Tiger, which was recently released on Netflix. She also starred on the ABC series Quantico for three seasons.

Chopra has starred in even more Bollywood films.
Chopra is undeniably famous in the U.S., but she is even more popular in India. The majority of her acting credits are for Bollywood films, and she's won two National Film Awards, the equivalent of the American Academy Award. She won Best Actress for the 2008 film Fashion, and in 2019, she won for the award for Best Film on Environment Conservation for producing Paani. As another show of her popularity, she's the second most-followed Indian person on Instagram, behind cricket player Virat Kohli.
The 38-year-old actor has spoken about how Bollywood is a massive industry that's reduced to a mere genre outside of India. "If you look on streaming services, you will see 'horror', 'comedy', 'drama', 'Bollywood'," she told the Hindustan Times. "Bollywood is not a genre, it's an entire industry! It's my life's dream to see Indian cinema and artists take over the West."
